International boccia competitions are being organized across different regions, serving both championship and qualifying purposes. In San Francisco, Argentina, the city has been selected to host the 2027 Boccia World Championship from March 10 to 13. The event will feature the Servín modality at the Superdomo and is expected to host delegations from more than 20 countries. Pascal Hernández, president of the International Bowling Federation, inspected local facilities to prepare for the tournament. Separately, the fifth World Boccia Challenger is scheduled to take place in Olbia, Italy, from October 12 to 20 at the PalaGeovillage. Organized by World Boccia and the Federazione Italiana Bocce, this event acts as a qualifying step for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games. The competition expects over 200 participants and athletes from 22 countries. The event will include 77 athletes competing in BC1, BC2, BC3, and BC4 individual categories, alongside pairs and team competitions. Following an inaugural ceremony on October 13, individual matches are slated for October 14 to 17, with pairs and team events scheduled for October 18 and 19. Roberto Favre, president of the Federazione Italiana Bocce, described the Challenger as a “fundamental stage for the growth of Italian boccia,” noting investments in both established athletes and the Under 23 generation.
