International events in Paraguay

Paraguay is hosting various international events involving South American nations. The Paraguayan national football teams have begun preparations for upcoming fixtures, including U20 friendly matches against Uruguay and senior-level matches in the United States against Bolivia and Colombia to prepare for the 2030 World Cup.

Simultaneously, Paraguay is set to host Fuerzas Comando 2026, an international special operations competition. Military delegations from Colombia and Bolivia are preparing for the event, which features specialized military and police units from across the Americas to demonstrate tactical and technical capabilities.

In Colombia, President Abelardo De La Espriella presented the national flag to an eight-member team of special forces commandos. Colombia enters the competition with a strong historical record, having secured 13 titles out of 18 editions. Meanwhile, Bolivia is marking its return to the competition after more than two decades. The Bolivian elite unit, F-10, has arrived in Asunción following an invitation from the U.S. Southern Command. Defense Minister Ernesto Justiniano Urenda stated that the participation aims to “strengthen international cooperation and the professionalization of the Bolivian Armed Forces.”
