The 21st International Forensic Medicine Days ~~congress~~ concluded in Antalya, Turkey, following a seven-day ~~program.~~ program held from September 21 to 27, 2026. The event gathered forensic medicine heads, academics, judicial members, lawyers, and criminal experts representing 40 countries across five continents. While the central theme remained ‘addiction and expert testimony,’ the 28 sessions expanded to cover a wide array of specialized topics. These included digital evidence, deepfake technology, forensic DNA, human rights, forensic pathology, and mass disaster identification. Discussions also addressed emerging technical challenges such as autonomous vehicles, forensic radiology, virtual autopsy, and the use of artificial intelligence in forensic sciences. International leaders, including the President of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and the Director of the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the University of Zurich, participated in the event. Dr. Hızır Aslıyüksek, President of the Forensic Medicine Institute, highlighted the intensive nature of the program, which featured presentations from 47 scientists. Beyond technological and pathological discussions, the congress examined complex legal and medical intersections, such as disability assessments, expert practices regarding occupational accidents, and the ethics of calculating loss of earning capacity. The conference was supported by the Anadolu Agency as its global communication partner.
