Istanbul is hosting several major international sporting events in August and September 2026. On August 16, the city held the sixth edition of the Oral-B Istanbul Bosphorus Triathlon, where Mikhail Venediktov and Ece Calp secured first place in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively. On August 23, the 38th Bosphorus Cross-Continental Swimming Race saw approximately 2,500 athletes compete, with Selim Oğuz and Su İnal winning the men’s and women’s classifications. Cycling events are a major focus. The fourth edition of the Tour of İstanbul, a UCI 2.1 category race, was scheduled for September 3–6, spanning regions such as Silivri, Çatalca, Şile, Beykoz, the Historical Peninsula, and others. In the long course category, Ömer Cumhur Boyraz and Gökçe Demirsoy secured first place in the men’s and women’s divisions, respectively. The race caused significant traffic disruptions across ~~several districts,~~ districts including Beykoz, Ümraniye, Beşiktaş, ~~Beyoğlu,~~ Fatih, and ~~Fatih.~~ Beyoğlu. Other events include the second DenizBank Tersane Istanbul Rowing Cup in the Golden Horn from September 11 to 13 and the Women’s European Volleyball Championship.
