International sports competitions involving Slovenian national teams have seen various outcomes. The Slovenian men’s basketball team secured an 89:86 victory over Latvia in a friendly match at Tivoli. Klemen Prepelič led the comeback with 31 points, including 15 in the final quarter, serving as preparation for the 2027 World Cup qualifiers in the absence of Luka Dončić. In recent World Cup qualifying action, the men’s team secured a 92:77 victory over Hungary. Led by Prepelič, who recorded 24 points and nine assists, Slovenia maintains a 4-4 record. The team currently sits third in their group behind France and Finland, keeping them in contention for a qualifying spot for the 2027 World Cup in Qatar. In flag football, the Slovenian women’s national team concluded their debut appearance at the World Championship in Germany in 14th place, highlighted by a 40:26 victory against Brazil. Regarding volleyball, the men’s national team is competing in the 34th Men's European Volleyball Championship. After an opening 3-0 victory over Slovakia and a second 3-0 win against Sweden, the team suffered a 3-1 upset loss to Greece. Slovenia later secured a 3-1 victory against the Czech Republic, moving into second place in Group A. Following a 3-2 loss to Italy in a match that determined the group standings, Slovenia officially finished second in Pool A. Slovenia advanced to the round of 16 and faced Serbia on September 21. Slovenia secured a decisive victory, resulting in the elimination of the Serbian men's national team from the championship. Serbian head coach George Crețu attributed the defeat to “unforced errors and a lack of rhythm in the opening sets,” noting that the team struggled to counter Slovenia's pressure. Building on that momentum, Slovenia advanced to the quarter-finals after a 3-0 victory over Serbia in Turin.
