Interpol Operation Jackal IV crime crackdown

Overview

Interpol concluded ‘Operation Jackal IV’, an eight-month international crackdown running from November 2025 to June 2026. The operation targeted West African organized crime networks, including groups like the Black Axe, involved in global financial fraud such as romance scams, cryptocurrency investment fraud, and business email compromise.

Spanning 22 countries across six continents, the initiative resulted in 58 arrests and the identification of 263 suspects. Regional enforcement actions included the arrest of 39 people in South Africa, where authorities seized $2.67 million and blocked 257 bank accounts. In Romania, 11 individuals were arrested for operating an investment and cryptocurrency scam ring. In Argentina, investigators focused on ‘crime-as-a-service’ networks providing infrastructure to criminal groups.

Interpol officials highlighted the use of cryptocurrency to facilitate fraud and obscure the movement of stolen funds. Tomonobu Kaya, director of the Interpol Financial Crime and Anti-Corruption Centre, stated that tracking these illicit flows allows authorities to attack the ‘lifeblood of organized crime’.
