Investigation into David Corrêa and criminal activities

Vasco da Gama striker David Corrêa is a target of ‘Operação A Tropa,’ a police investigation into a criminal organization suspected of drug trafficking, arms trafficking, and money laundering. The operation, led by the Civil Police of Espírito Santo, involved search and seizure warrants at Corrêa’s residence in Barra da Tijuca and the Vasco training center in Jacarepaguá.

Initial reports indicated that investigators found suspicious messages on seized mobile phones regarding a firearm and an attempted homicide. The probe was reportedly triggered by the arrest of a childhood friend of the player. While Corrêa admitted to knowing individuals mentioned in the investigation, he denied involvement in criminal activities.

Subsequent details identified Corrêa’s former agent, Édson Vander da Silva Júnior, as a leader of a drug trafficking group. Investigators allege that while managing the player’s career and finances, da Silva Júnior was also directing local criminal activities. Authorities are treating messages between the agent and the player as potential evidence of the athlete financing drug trafficking. Vasco da Gama has stated it is providing legal and emotional support to the player and will cooperate with authorities, noting that Corrêa will continue his professional duties for the time being.
