Following the death of 22-year-old Karla Valeria Jiménez in San Sebastián de Aparicio, her family and supporters demonstrated at the Puebla State Attorney General’s Office (FGE). They demanded the death be investigated as a feminicide rather than a suicide, alleging a history of violence by her former partner, Yeudiel Toxqui. While Toxqui denied responsibility, stating, “I did not do it,” and the FGE initially noted that no arrest warrant had been issued, the investigation progressed. By August 18, authorities arrested Yeudiel N., the victim’s partner and the father of her child. Investigators alleged he physically assaulted Karla Valeria on July 26, leading to her death. Forensic evidence indicated that the suspect attempted to stage the scene to make the death appear to be a suicide by hanging. The arrest follows weeks of protests by the victim's family, who rejected the initial suicide theory and demanded a gender-perspective investigation. Yeudiel N. will be presented before a control judge to determine his legal status. The victim’s four-year-old son has been placed under the care of the State DIF system. Authorities have since concluded that the victim died of mechanical asphyxia following a physical altercation. This finding confirms the suspicion that the scene was staged to simulate a suicide. The Specialized Prosecutor for Gender Violence Crimes led the investigation that identified Yeudiel N. as the probable perpetrator of the feminicide.
