Muzaffer Şirin, leader of the Galatasaray supporter group ultrAslan, has been released under judicial control, including house arrest and a ban on traveling abroad, following an investigation by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. The probe involves allegations of illegal betting, organized black market ticket fraud, drug possession, violating laws regarding violence and disorder in sports, and spreading misleading information. During searches of his residence, authorities seized assets with a total value of approximately 65 million TL, consisting of various currencies (Turkish Lira, US Dollars, British Pounds, and Euros), gold, and jewelry. Police also recovered an unlicensed handgun, 141 bullets, and four ballistic vests. In his defense, Şirin denied the criminal allegations, claiming the handgun was for self-protection against drug dealers and that the large sums of cash were personal savings and wedding ~~gifts for his son.~~ gifts. He stated he had no knowledge of his son’s banking movements. Financial analysis by MASAK revealed a combined transaction volume of approximately 51 million TL between Şirin and his son, İbrahim Şamil Şirin. İbrahim Şamil Şirin recorded a total banking transaction volume of 38,440,538 TL between 2017 and 2026, with annual volumes rising from 2 million TL in 2022 to over 11 million TL in 2024. Muzaffer Şirin’s accounts showed a total volume of 12,558,302 TL from 2011 to 2026, including a spike in 2023 where activity jumped to over 6.8 million TL. A significant portion of Şirin’s funds, totaling 4,350,000 TL across six transactions, was transferred from Diamond Gayrimenkul İnşaat Sanayi ve Ticaret Limited Şirketi. During his transfer to the courthouse, Şirin drew attention by shouting slogans in support of Abdullah Öcalan.
