Iran military recruitment and conscription
Overview
Iran has implemented various military mobilization efforts. Through the ‘Janfada’ or ‘self-sacrifice’ campaign, the Basij paramilitary force has initiated recruitment targeting boys aged 12 to 15. This program includes training in surveillance, intelligence, drone piloting, and the use of shoulder-mounted weapons. A campaign spokesperson stated that approximately 31 million Iranians have enlisted in the campaign.
Separately, the Law Enforcement Force of the Islamic Republic of Iran (FARAJA) has issued official call-up notices for conscripts scheduled for service in November 2026. These instructions require individuals to report to designated training centers with specific documentation, including proof of vaccinations. Conscripts are prohibited from bringing electronic devices such as mobile phones or smartwatches to these locations, and failure to report is subject to legal action under the Public Service Law.
