The tenth anniversary of the ‘Ćirilicom’ festival has commenced in the old town of Budva, Montenegro. The multidisciplinary event, which runs through mid-September, features a program spanning literature, theater, opera, music, and visual arts. During the opening ceremony, Metropolitan Joanikije of Montenegro and the Littoral highlighted the cultural importance of the Cyrillic script, noting its role in preserving national values and its presence in significant Slavic works like the UNESCO-recognized Miroslav Gospel. He emphasized that the alphabet has marked the culture and spirituality of most Slavic peoples for over 11 centuries, noting its connection to legal history and sacred art. Initial programming included the promotion of the book ‘Ćirilo i Metodije, who are you’ and the opening of Milivoje Babović’s exhibition ‘I bi slovo’ at the Santa Maria in Punta church.
