A violent shooting in the El Rocío neighborhood of Isla Cristina, Huelva, resulted in the deaths of a 62-year-old woman, her 39-year-old daughter who was eight months pregnant, and a 16-year-old boy. The unborn baby also died as a result of the attack. An 18-year-old man was among those wounded during the incident. Two masked individuals on a motorcycle opened fire with a long-barreled weapon before fleeing. The perpetrators reportedly attempted to destroy evidence by setting fire to their motorcycle in a nearby pine forest. An 18-year-old man was among those wounded; while he was initially in serious condition, he is no longer considered to be in life-threatening danger. The Guardia Civil is investigating the attack as a potential settling of scores between rival drug-trafficking clans, specifically the Moriña and Salazar families. This violence is suspected to be linked to a previous fatal shooting in Huelva in September 2024 involving an individual known as ‘El Baba.’ Following the attack, the Guardia Civil recovered the weapons used in the shooting. These have been sent to the Ballistics Service of the Armory Institute for technical analysis, with findings to be submitted to the Court of Instruction Number 3 of Huelva. A massive security deployment involving both the Guardia Civil and National Police remains active in Isla Cristina and Huelva to ensure public safety as authorities continue to search for the suspects. The investigation remains under judicial secrecy.
