The municipality of Isla Mujeres continues its active public‑works and community‑service agenda. After the late‑June opening of the Paseo de las Sirenas promenade, the administration began construction of a new eastern stretch on 24 June, adding a peace obelisk, commercial kiosks, upgraded restrooms, decorative sculptures, benches, anchors and picnic tables to modernise the waterfront. On 28 June street‑paving works continued in the Sac Bajo area with a new concrete pedestrian crossing and speed‑bump devices, while the “Rutas Mágicas de Color” tourism initiative repainted more than 50 façades on Jesús Martínez Ross Avenue to boost visual appeal. The Posadas Izla hotel, offering 122 rooms with private balconies, also opened, expanding hospitality capacity. A summer program for children aged 7‑11 was launched on 8 July, and President Atenea Gómez Ricalde served as godmother at a primary‑school graduation, reaffirming plans for new sports facilities such as La Victoria park. Applications opened on 14 July for the "Transformando la Educación: Mi Computadora 2026" laptop‑subsidy scheme, which will cover 70 % of the price for college‑bound students. On 17 July the mayor met with Dr. María José Espinosa Romero of IMIPAS to strengthen cooperation on sustainable fishing, aquaculture and marine‑ecosystem conservation. The "Chiquitita Verano 2026" festival was held on 19 July, showcasing local girls’ artistic talent and providing commemorative gifts. Work on a new lookout tower at the Malecón Caribe was finalised on 21 July, adding public lighting, endemic‑vegetation re‑planting and safety upgrades to enhance tourism and the island’s urban image. Daily beach‑clean‑up operations through ZOFEMAT have kept Playa Norte and Playa Centro in Blue‑Flag condition, and progress was inspected on the new Casa de la Cultura cultural centre, which will host an auditorium, music and dance rooms, a virtual library and community spaces.
