Israeli forces conducted an airstrike in the Nuseirat area of the central Gaza Strip, killing Saher Nidal Saqr (also identified as Sahar Sakr or Saher Nidal Latfi Sakr). The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet identified Saqr as a militant affiliated with global jihadist organizations who was involved in the October 7, 2023, attacks. Israeli authorities stated that Saqr operated the motorcycle used to kidnap Israeli citizens Noa Argamani and Avinatan Or during the Nova music festival. The IDF further alleged that Saqr supplied weapons to Hamas and was involved in planning new attacks against Israeli military and civilian targets. The operation to eliminate him involved the IDF’s undercover Gideonim Unit 33. In a separate announcement, the IDF and Shin Bet confirmed the killing of Muhammad Hamad Muhammad Gabain, a Hamas military commander, in a strike in northern Gaza. Gabain was reportedly involved in the captivity of nine hostages abducted during the October 7 massacre. Reports from Al-Aqsa Hospital indicated the strike on Saqr caused injuries to several others. In the broader context of intensified military activity, health officials reported multiple Palestinian casualties in recent days, contributing to a total death toll in Gaza of 73,910 since the conflict began.
