Overview

Israeli military actions, including drone strikes, artillery, and naval fire, have resulted in multiple civilian casualties across the Gaza Strip. In mid-October, a drone strike in Khan Yunis targeted a tent used for charging mobile phones, killing at least three people. On October 31, 2026, further fatalities were reported following Israeli strikes and gunfire in Nuseirat, Khan Younis, and Gaza City. In the Nuseirat refugee camp, a teacher named Diaa Abu al-Rous was killed by a drone strike while traveling to school. In the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, a fire in a displacement tent, reportedly caused by cooking activities during severe gas shortages, killed two infants: two-month-old Habiba Mohammed Zannoun and seven-month-old Aseel Abu Suhaiban. Their mother also sustained serious burns. These incidents occurred despite a ceasefire agreement in effect since October 2025, which local reports cite is facing ongoing violations. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported the cumulative death toll since October 7, 2023, has reached 74,594, with 175,834 injured.
