The Istanbul Chamber of Industry (İSO) is undergoing a leadership transition following the announcement that transition. Current Chairman Erdal Bahçıvan will not seek re-election. Bahçıvan, who has served as Chairman held the position since 2013, stated announced he is stepping down of will not seek re-election. Bahçıvan noted that his own volition after tenure involved navigating challenges such as various crises, including the Covid-19 pandemic and high inflation. He issued a warning regarding deindustrialization, noting that manufacturing's share of GDP has fallen below 20 percent. inflation, and emphasized the need for industrial policy to combat deindustrialization. Ender Yılmaz, the current Assembly President, has officially announced his candidacy for the chairmanship. Yılmaz aims to transform the İSO into a “proactive proactive intelligence center of intelligence” to shape industrial policy and increase the global competitiveness of Turkish industry. He also expressed a desire to mend strengthen the disconnect connection between the İSO and the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB).
