Istanbul hosted several major food and gastronomy industry events in late 2026. Foodist İstanbul, held from September 1–4 at the TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center, focused on the future of the food sector through themes of export, digitalization, sustainability, and food technology. The event aimed to connect Turkey’s production capacity with global trade networks, with expectations of hosting approximately 70,000 industry professionals from more than 150 countries and featuring around 650 brands. The opening ceremony was attended by Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı, and Mustafa Varank, Chairman of the TBMM Industry, Trade, Energy, Natural Resources, Information and Technology Commission. Participating brands included Kadooğlu Yağ, showcasing various oils, and Balparmak, presenting its honey portfolio and Apitera brand. Altunkaya Grup also participated, showcasing products to local and foreign distributors; its Chairman, Mahsum Altunkaya, emphasized a focus on ‘quality production, employment, and export-oriented growth’. During the fair, Turkish companies reported significant commercial activity. Oba Makarnacılık (OBAMS) announced it secured approximately $20 million in new orders through meetings with national and international professionals, following reported consolidated sales revenues of approximately 12.5 billion TL for the first half of 2026. Matlı Şirketler Grubu, presenting brands Keskinoğlu and Yörsan, used the platform to target new export opportunities in Africa and the Middle East. By its conclusion, the fair featured over 2,000 business professionals from 60 focus countries participating via VIP purchasing delegations. The program included the Foodist Forum and Show Kitchen to facilitate collaboration. Following these events, GastroShow 2026 was scheduled for October 9–10 at the Taşyapı Event Center. Organized by the Gastronomy Tourism Association (GTD) in collaboration with Turkuvaz Medya and Rota Fuar, this edition centered on a ‘Zero Waste’ theme, focusing on reducing food waste, sustainable production, and the circular economy. The exhibition included B2B meetings to connect Turkish producers, such as the Kayseri-based Başyazıcı, with global buyers.
