Repair works are underway continue on the M7 Yıldız-Mahmutbey Metro Line in Istanbul following structural deformation caused by underground water flow. Service between Mecidiyeköy and Nurtepe has been suspended since April 27, which also resulted resulting in the temporary closure of the Çağlayan and Kağıthane stations. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) officials have identified are implementing engineering solutions, including the implementation of a new drainage system to prevent future water-related issues and the reconstruction of a damaged 60-meter section. The Authorities maintain the goal is to restore of restoring normal service to the affected segment before by the end of 2026. The suspension has significantly impacted commuters, with travel times increasing from approximately 6–7 minutes via metro to 30–35 minutes via road during peak hours. To mitigate these disruptions, İBB is providing provides alternative transportation through IETT buses.
