Service between Mecidiyeköy and Nurtepe has been suspended since April 27, ~~which also resulted~~ resulting in the temporary closure of the Çağlayan and Kağıthane stations. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) officials ~~have identified~~ are implementing engineering solutions, including ~~the implementation of~~ a new drainage system ~~to prevent future water-related issues~~ and the reconstruction of a damaged 60-meter section. ~~The~~ Authorities maintain the goal ~~is to restore~~ of restoring normal service to the affected segment ~~before~~ by the end of 2026. The suspension has significantly impacted commuters, with travel times increasing from approximately 6–7 minutes via metro to 30–35 minutes via road during peak hours.
