Overview

Authorities in Calabria have ordered the definitive confiscation of assets exceeding 162 million euros from three entrepreneurs, Antonio Lobello and his sons, Giuseppe and Daniele.

The seizure follows the ‘Coccodrillo’ investigation, which revealed that the entrepreneurs’ businesses maintained deep ties to several ’ndrangheta clans, including the Mazzagatti, Arena, and Grande Aracri families. These criminal connections enabled the companies to dominate the concrete supply market and secure various public and private construction contracts while providing protection against mafia extortion.

The investigation also identified an interprovincial ’ndrangheta summit held at one of the construction sites during the modernization of the A3 highway. The three individuals were convicted of crimes including external participation in a mafia association, self-laundering, fraudulent transfer of values, and extortion, receiving prison sentences between 3 and 8 years and 10 months.
