In Italy, corporate entities are implementing large-scale cardioprotection and workplace safety initiatives through the deployment of automated external defibrillators (AEDs). In Trieste, the Edil Group launched the ‘Health&Care’ project via its subsidiary Edilimpianti. This initiative involves Edilimpianti, placing six AEDs across company facilities and integrating them into the local 118 emergency medical network, allowing the devices network to serve both employees and the general public. Following this model of corporate responsibility, Poste Italiane has significantly expanded its national ‘La Sicurezza ci sta a Cuore’ initiative. The company initiative, which aims to install 800 next-generation semi-automatic defibrillators across 242 locations. Recent regional rollouts include the installation of 12 units in Tuscany, 17 in Campania, and several locations in Emilia-Romagna, specifically Modena, Carpi, and Ferrara. These devices feature remote monitoring to ensure constant functionality and provide voice instructions to assist rescuers without specific medical training. To integrate with public services, the devices untrained rescuers, and are registered with 118 emergency operation centers. The initiative program is supported by an extensive Basic Life Support and Defibrillation (BLSD) training program, involving for approximately 9,500 emergency management personnel and over 35,000 employees. Recent expansions include the installation of 11 AEDs across seven Sicilian provinces: Palermo, Catania, Messina, Caltanissetta, Ragusa, Siracusa, and Agrigento. In Tuscany, the company has installed 16 units. For its efforts in strengthening the emergency-urgency chain and contributing to territorial cardioprotection, Poste Italiane was honored with the ‘BLSD Angels’ regional award from the association Siena Cuore ODV during the ninth edition of ‘Progetto Vita’.
