In October 2026, various ceremonies in Italy recognized excellence within the culinary and oenological sectors. The Milano Wine Week Awards honored Italian restaurants, wine shops, and service professionals for their contributions to wine culture. Amidst shifting consumption habits and declining sales, the event highlighted the importance of high-end dining investments in wine service. Federico Gordini, president of Milano Wine Week, noted the need to include more affordable wine selections under 25 euros to appeal to younger consumers. Concurrently, TheFork Awards celebrated top new restaurant openings across Italy. Winners were determined through nominations by international chefs and public voting. Notable recipients included 142 Restaurant in Milan for Northern Italy, Antesi in Florence for Central Italy, and Baccanti in Matera for Southern Italy and the Islands. The ninth edition of Milano Wine Week concluded after nine days of programming organized by the MWW Group. The event featured over 100 activations involving approximately 800 wineries, more than 100 sommeliers, and hundreds of industry buyers. This edition saw the debut of the Wine Hospitality Awards, which recognized over 50 wineries for excellence in hospitality, alongside the fourth edition of the MWW Awards, which presented approximately 150 honors. Organizers announced that the 2027 edition will mark the event’s tenth anniversary. Furthermore, a new event, Roma Wine Week, is scheduled to launch in May.
