Italian authorities, including the Carabinieri ROS and Digos police, have conducted a widespread operation against online radical extremism. Coordinated by prosecutors in Rome and Venice, the investigation targets individuals suspected of spreading white supremacist, neo-Nazi, and accelerationist propaganda. Seventeen people are under investigation, with 14 identified as minors, across various provinces including Rome, Milan, Naples, and Palermo. Investigators identified two primary virtual groups, ‘Nuovo Ordine Europeo’ and ‘Fronte Fascista Italiano’, which allegedly used social media and online channels to distribute antisemitic materials, Holocaust denial, and videos glorifying terrorists such as Brenton ~~Tarrant~~ Tarrant, Anders Breivik, and Adolf Hitler. Beyond ideological propaganda, authorities reported the sharing of documents detailing past massacres, instructions for constructing explosive devices, and techniques for direct action. Evidence also suggests that some participants engaged in online gaming to simulate violent attacks against ethnic minorities. During the execution of 17 search warrants, police seized digital devices, knives, weapons, and items featuring Nazi symbolism. The suspects face charges including incitement to commit crimes based on racial, ethnic, or religious discrimination, and training for terrorist activities.
