In Alatri, the center-right coalition has experienced division following Mayor Maurizio Cianfrocca’s decision not to seek re-election. Roberto Addesse of Lega has announced his candidacy and proposed using primaries to find a unified candidate, while Antonello Iannarilli of Forza Italia has also launched a challenge. The Patto Civico party has criticized the coalition as being split. On a national level, Trifone “Nuccio” Altieri has withdrawn his candidacy for the presidency of the National Anti-Corruption Authority (ANAC). His nomination by the Council of Ministers faced opposition from the Democratic Party, Movimento 5 Stelle, and Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra, who argued his ties to the Lega violated requirements for impartiality. Altieri cited “political, institutional, and personal opportunity” for his withdrawal, necessitating a new appointment procedure. Critics also raised legal concerns regarding potential incompatibilities due to his recent political activities and his roles as a board member of Leonardo and president of Fincantieri Infrastructure. While Vice Premier Matteo Salvini defended Altieri, asserting he met all legal requirements, the government confirmed it will propose a new name to the Council of Ministers on Monday to fill the vacancy left by Giuseppe Busia.
