The National Union of Clinics, Polyclinics, Entities and Private Hospitals (UAP) continues to contest the new Italian ‘Decreto Tariffe’ (Tariff Decree), arguing that the proposed rates for outpatient and prosthetic services are economically unsustainable. UAP has previously criticized the methodology for excluding smaller laboratories and failing to reflect actual medical costs. On September 8, 2026, UAP President Mariastella Giorlandino emphasized that current reimbursement rates are outdated and do not account for inflation. According to UAP, 85.7 percent of the analyzed tariffs would be lower than late 2024 values if adjusted for Istat inflation. The association is demanding that the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Health implement immediate Istat-based adjustments to reflect real costs and protect both workers and patients.
