In late July 2026 Italian local authorities announced fare adjustments for urban bus services that will take effect on 1 August 2026. The Ancona city council approved a roughly 20 % increase, raising single‑ride tickets from €1.50 to €2.00 and on‑board purchases from €2.00 to €2.70, while keeping monthly and yearly passes unchanged. Officials said the hike is needed to restore the service’s financial balance amid higher fuel costs and inflation, and noted criticism from residents over fare evasion. A week later the regional operator Autolinee Toscane disclosed similar tariff changes for Tuscany’s main cities. Standard single‑ticket prices will rise from €1.70 to €2.00, and the “greater” urban ticket from €1.30 to €1.50. The 10‑ticket carnet will increase to €18.20 and the monthly urban pass to about €42. ~~Student, annual, quarterly and subsidised ISEE‑eligible tickets remain unchanged, and children up to 11 travel free.~~ Both announcements frame the increases as necessary to maintain service quality and coverage while spreading costs across passengers. The Tuscany rollout also expands to extra‑urban tickets, with 0‑10 km fares moving from €1.70 to €2.00 and 10‑20 km fares from €2.90 to €3.40. Tickets and passes purchased before 31 July may be used until 31 January 2027, and existing subscriptions remain valid until their natural expiry. Concessionary tickets – annual, quarterly, student and ISEE‑based rates – stay unchanged.
