Italian Red Cross service and volunteer training expansion
The Italian Red Cross has transitioned from its intensive summer service season to new training initiatives for volunteers. In the Sibillini region, the committee concluded a summer period marked by significant emergency interventions and a pilot program providing night shifts to support the Ascoli Piceno emergency center. To mark the end of the season, the committee inaugurated a ‘red bench’ in Comunanza to raise awareness against violence against women. Following the summer season, the organization is launching new New training programs in Racconigi and Senigallia. These courses are designed expanding across several regions. In Racconigi, an introductory session is scheduled for October 5, with formal training beginning October 13 to prepare volunteers for roles such as in ambulance services, patient transport, dialysis support, food distribution, and literacy programs. In Senigallia, a presentation evening on October 14 will lead into a Basic Course held on October 24–25 and November 7–8. Further training initiatives are being launched in Umbria and Piedmont. In Gubbio, a course starting October 21 will consist of 10 evening sessions covering first aid, humanitarian values, and the history of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. In Cuneo, a presentation on October 19 will introduce a curriculum including international humanitarian law, civil protection, and basic first aid and CPR. Participants in these programs may eventually pursue specialized training in emergency medical services and social assistance for vulnerable populations.
