In Sicily, the Cisl Sicilia trade union issued an open letter to the Regional Assembly and the Schifani Government, urging a focus on substantive priorities for the remainder of the legislative term. General Secretary Leonardo La Piana called for political responsibility to address issues such as quality employment, youth emigration, healthcare, welfare, and wildfire prevention. In Sardinia and Marche, regional discussions have focused on territorial development and infrastructure. In Sardinia, local leaders met with the regional assessor for public works to coordinate funding for road maintenance and public asset redevelopment. Meanwhile, in Rome, representatives from CREL Marche met with CNEL leadership to discuss challenges facing internal areas, specifically depopulation, service provision, and business competitiveness. Building on these regional concerns, Cisl Marche Secretary General Marco Ferracuti recently called for “courageous choices and long-term vision” to drive development in the Marche region during a meeting in Ancona. Discussions centered on the link between infrastructure, employment, and legality. Jacopo Lasca, Secretary General of Filca Cisl Marche, emphasized that infrastructure should connect coastal and inland areas while maintaining job dignity. To support this, Filca Cisl Marche is requesting a regional protocol regarding safety and legality in public procurement, alongside the creation of a permanent table with social partners to monitor construction sites, manage delays, and combat irregular work.
