In the absence of a unified national law, several Italian regions are implementing local regulations to manage medically assisted suicide following Constitutional Court rulings. Critics, including Pro Vita & Famiglia and members of Fratelli d'Italia, argued the SSN should focus on life-saving care rather than acting as an ‘executor of death,’ while the Associazione Luca Coscioni maintained that rulings must be ‘concretely implemented by regional authorities.’ Religious leaders, including the Triveneto and Pugliese Episcopal Conferences, have also opposed these measures, stating there is ‘no right to die’ and advocating instead for a ‘culture of care and dignity’ through palliative care.
