Italian law enforcement operations have continued to target drug trafficking, public safety, and environmental violations across several regions. Recent enforcement has expanded to include significant narcotics seizures and organized crime interventions. In Borgo Incoronata, police seized 860 kilograms of marijuana from three buildings used for cultivation and processing. At Fiumicino Airport, authorities intercepted a 40-year-old woman attempting to travel to Taipei with over 5 kilograms of cocaine concealed inside 127 ‘Fortune Cookie’ packages. In a separate airport interception, two Mexican nationals were caught with approximately 17.4 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden in their luggage. In Milan and the surrounding Brianza area, a major investigation led to the seizure of approximately 520 kilograms of hashish. Recent operations have further dismantled organized networks. In the Veneto region, the ‘Rent Cars’ operation dismantled a cocaine trafficking and money laundering network involving seven Albanian nationals. In Sicily, the Direzione Distrettuale Antimafia di Catania dismantled the Nardo clan, a branch of the Santapaola family, through 25 precautionary measures targeting extortion and illegal business practices. In Sardinia, police dismantled two drug trafficking groups in Nuoro specializing in marijuana and cocaine. In Rome, authorities arrested nine individuals of Dominican and Colombian nationality following an investigation into a violent kidnapping and robbery in the Casal Bertone neighborhood. New enforcement actions have expanded the scope of investigations. In Belluno, authorities are investigating the fraudulent bankruptcy and money laundering of 4 million euros from three hospitality companies. Recent drug seizures include 26 kg of cocaine in Anzio and the discovery of 208 cocaine doses hidden in water bottles during a chase in Alba Adriatica. In Bolzano, the Guardia di Finanza recovered hashish, cocaine, and heroin hidden in local woods. Recent widespread operations have yielded further significant results.
