Charitable initiatives across various Italian municipalities have launched campaigns to collect school supplies for families facing economic difficulties. In early August, projects in Ravenna and Trapani began organizing efforts. Ravenna’s “Tutti i bambini e le bambine vanno a scuola” initiative sought volunteers to coordinate donations of backpacks and notebooks, while Trapani’s Lions Club launched its third annual “Zaino Sospeso” campaign to collect materials at local stationery stores. By September, additional programs expanded the scope of support. In Spoleto, the “Zaino Sospeso” project, a collaboration between the Municipal Youth Council and the Diocesan Caritas of Spoleto-Norcia, began collecting stationery through September 20. Simultaneously, in the Lombardy and Piedmont regions, Nova Coop initiated the “Dona la Spesa per la Scuola” campaign, utilizing 64 stores to collect educational items for distribution to disadvantaged households via approximately 70 local non-profit organizations. Newer efforts in September include the “Banco dei Desideri” initiative in Varese, hosted at the Feltrinelli bookstore from September 11 to 13. Supported by volunteers from the association La Scelta, this drive encourages the purchase of notebooks, pens, and diaries to mitigate educational inequality. Additionally, in the Fasano region, the Lions Club and Leo Club Fasano are supporting the national “Zaino sospeso” project by Multidistretto Lions 108 Italy. On September 9, Ruvo di Puglia launched its fourth annual “Zaino sospeso” initiative. Expanding these efforts, Coop Alleanza 3.0 is set to launch its own “Dona la spesa per la scuola” initiative on September 12, involving approximately 230 stores to collect notebooks, pencils, and backpacks.
