Student transportation services in various Italian regions are facing widespread criticism due to overcrowding, scheduling conflicts, and inadequate service levels. In Carpi, the municipality has escalated its demands for urgent intervention from the transport provider Seta. Mobility Councilor Serena Pedrazzoli reported that students and parents face repeated issues, including late arrivals, overcrowded vehicles, and instances where students are left stranded. These disruptions affect hundreds of students commuting to Carpi from neighboring municipalities and at the province of Reggio Emilia. The administration is calling for schedules that better align with student needs during peak school hours. These difficulties are part of a broader systemic issue affecting several municipalities within the province of Modena, particularly regarding extra-urban lines. A provincial meeting has been convened to address these problems. At the Papardo university hub, officials and student associations have also reported that bus systems are β€˜at a breaking point.’ Specific complaints include buses being frequently overcrowded, students being left stranded, and schedules that do not align point,’ with academic timetables. Students in Papardo have requested students requesting more frequent services to reduce wait times. Similar disruptions have been reported for students commuting between Comiso and Vittoria. Local officials, including Comiso Councilor for Public Education Giusi Cubisino, have noted that bus schedules are incompatible with school start times and that some routes have been suppressed. These failures often result in students being marked late for class. The municipality of Comiso has contacted the Regional Department of Infrastructure to demand urgent intervention, noting that previous assurances from transport companies that these issues were temporary have not been met.
