The 21st edition of the Rai 1 dance competition ‘Ballando con le Stelle’ achieved a significant viewership milestone with its debut, attracting approximately 3.5 million viewers—its highest performance in 14 years. Host Milly Carlucci noted the production has relocated to the new Saxa Rubra studios, specifically the Pippo Baudo studio. In the second episode, Monica Guerritore and Luca Urso won the round with a samba, earning 65 points and taking the top spot in the general standings. Ornella Muti and Pasquale La Rocca followed in second place with 61 points, while Alessandro Matri and Giada Lini secured third with 56 points. During her performance, Guerritore shared personal reflections regarding her recent battle with cancer, earning a standing ovation. Contestant Eugenio Finardi also delivered an emotional performance, speaking openly about his struggles with loneliness. Judge Guillermo Mariotto praised the ‘poetic quality’ of his movements, resulting in an emotional embrace. While the episode featured high tension and discussions regarding contestant dynamics, no eliminations or sudden death rounds occurred, meaning all couples will return for the third episode. Regarding the judging panel—consisting of Carolyn Smith, Guillermo Mariotto, Barbara d’Urso, Alberto Matano, and Ivan Zazzaroni—Milly Carlucci has defended the group’s evolving chemistry. Carlucci has emphasized a shift toward a more relaxed atmosphere, specifically defending the inclusion of Barbara D’Urso to avoid the high-conflict approach of previous years. However, journalist Riccardo Bocca has criticized D'Urso's contribution, prompting Carlucci to state that new members need time to find their rhythm. Tensions have also surfaced regarding perceived jealousy between judges and contestants during live broadcasts.
