Italy-China cultural exchange programs

The partnership began with a university‑level program at Jilin International Studies University in June 2026, where Italian instructor Pio Savelli used role‑play to place Chinese learners in everyday Italian contexts, emphasizing cultural understanding alongside language skills.

By July 2026 the network reached Qingdao’s Artistic High School No. 6. Italian teacher Valeria Pannozzo delivered intensive Italian grammar, including the subjunctive, and linked language study to hands‑on artistic projects that connect students with Italian art academies. Her own engagement with China dates back to a 2014 visit to Beijing, and she now coordinates broader cultural‑art exchanges between the two countries.

A senior student, Huang Liyin, is preparing a scenography portfolio for Rome’s Academy of Fine Arts, illustrating how the program creates concrete pathways for study in Italy. Pannozzo stresses that teaching Italian opens Chinese students to different worldviews and promotes dialogue, while highlighting Italy’s heritage expertise and China’s organizational and technological strengths. The evolving initiative now spans university and secondary education, fostering mutual appreciation and expanding academic and professional opportunities for Chinese learners of Italian culture and language.
