Bersani also praised Mayor Lepore’s actions and questioned whether left‑wing politicians should assume policing roles. His comments added another layer to intra‑left disputes and kept the Fakir controversy in the public eye. As of late July 2026, no further statements directly linked to the Fakir incident have emerged, and unrelated electoral news has not shifted the focus of the controversy.
