The Italian Ministry of Education and Merit, alongside the Ministry of Economy and Finance, established guidelines for the ‘Carta del Docente’ for the 2025/2026 school year. Under Decree No. 59, the nominal value of the card is set at 383 euros. Regulations specify that funds not utilized by the end of the 2025/2026 school year may be carried over for use during the 2026/2027 academic year. However, residual credits from the 2024/2025 period are set to expire and become unavailable as of September 1, 2026. New regulations have introduced a reduction in the annual bonus amount, which is decreasing from 500 euros to 383 euros for 2026. Additionally, new rules regarding electronic devices mandate a four-year interval between hardware or software purchases; for instance, a teacher purchasing hardware in 2026 cannot use the bonus for similar products again until 2030. Regarding system access, the portal will temporarily suspend access after August 31, 2026, to facilitate technical updates for the 2026/2027 school year. While the 2024/25 residual funds must be spent by the August 31 deadline, the 383-euro credit for the 2025/26 school year will remain in the user's balance. Teachers are advised to monitor their electronic wallets to distinguish between different credit years, as varying expiration rules apply. Specifically, those retiring or ceasing service as of September 1 must be cautious to avoid losing access to ordinary credits.
