The İYİ Party continues to face a reduction in its parliamentary presence following a series of high-profile resignations. Gaziantep Deputy Mehmet Mustafa Gürban announced his departure, stating he was resigning ‘due to necessity’ while intending to continue his duties in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Reports suggest Gürban may join the AK Parti. Following this, İYİ Party founder and Aydın Deputy Ömer Karakaş also resigned, citing ‘necessity.’ Party leader Müsavat Dervişoğlu responded to Karakaş’s move—which involved joining the AK Parti—by describing it as a ‘political betrayal.’ These departures have reduced the İYİ Party’s seat count to 27. Both Karakaş and Gürban officially joined the AK Parti during its 25th anniversary celebrations, where they were presented with party badges by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. In response to the losses, Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu asserted that the party remains ‘on the right path’ and that recent ‘attacks and divisions’ will not weaken the organization. Simultaneously, political shifts are impacting the Yeni Yol Party. After the departure of Mustafa Bilici, the party’s deputy count dropped to 19, falling below the 20-member threshold required to maintain official parliamentary group status. To mitigate this risk, CHP Deputy Ali Fazıl Kasap resigned from the CHP to join the Yeni Yol Party, bringing their count back to 20 members.
