The third edition of the Jabuti Academic Award, established in 2024 by the Câmara Brasileira do Livro, Livro (CBL), has concluded. The competition, which received 2,085 submissions, aimed to increase the visibility of scholarly works in fields such as education, health, technology, and public policy. Finalists were announced during the 78th annual meeting of the Sociedade Brasileira para o Progresso da Ciência in Niterói. Notable finalists included Editora Moderna titles focusing on puberty and cultural diversity, as well as a Brazilian Senate publication titled ‘Cuidando da Nossa Terra: Experiências Wayana e Aparai de gestão territorial e ambiental na Amazônia’. This work, part of the COP 30 Collection, examines indigenous land management and Amazonian conservation based on research from the Federal University of Pará. The award ceremony was held on 11 August at the Teatro Sérgio Cardoso in São Paulo. Winners received a Jabuti statuette and a R$5,000 prize. Among the winners were Renato Leão Rego for ‘A beleza da arquitetura contemporânea’ in the Architecture, Urbanism, Design, and Urban and Regional Planning category; Thiago Benucci in Anthropology, Sociology, Demography, Political Science, and International Relations; and Fillipi Nascimento and Michael França in Economics. Other recognized winners include Juliana Dal Piva in Communication and Information and Reginaldo Prandi in Religious Sciences and Theology. Special honors included physicist José Goldemberg as the ‘Academic Personality’ of the edition, and Mary Del Priore’s ‘História das Mulheres no Brasil’ as the ‘Classic Academic Book 2026’. The awards highlighted research addressing contemporary issues such as the climate crisis, social inequality, and ancestral knowledge.
