The Jakarta provincial government has addressed several adjustments to local service costs and public transit subsidies. Initially, the Jakarta Transportation Agency issued an apology regarding controversial proposals to significantly increase parking tariffs. The agency clarified that a reported rate of Rp60,000 per hour for four-wheeled vehicles was a proposal rather than a final decision, following criticism from legislators regarding a lack of consultation. Subsequently, the provincial government announced that Transjakarta, Transjabodetabek, and LRT Jakarta fares will increase effective January 1, 2027. Governor Pramono Anung stated that these adjustments are necessary because current rates have remained unchanged for approximately 20 years and the current low cost-recovery rate for Transjakarta is unsustainable. He noted that current rates are among the lowest in the metropolitan area compared to surrounding regions. To offset these costs, the number of groups eligible for free public transportation will expand from 15 to 21. This expansion includes caregivers for people with disabilities, job seekers, routine referral patients, and certain low-income students. While subsidies will continue, the government intends to redirect them more effectively toward these specific groups rather than the general public. In related transportation developments, Transjakarta is restructuring several feeder routes serving low-cost apartment areas (Rusun) to optimize fleet usage. Additionally, Danantara Indonesia confirmed that the LRT City residential project by PT Adhi Commuter Properti Tbk will proceed under a redesigned business model and architectural plan.
