Jakarta continues to implement environmental and infrastructure initiatives focused on flood mitigation and waste management. To address flood risks, the South Jakarta administration has conducted simultaneous community service activities across 65 sub-districts to clear sedimentation in local drainage systems and Kali Mampang. Additionally, Governor Pramono Anung is overseeing the dredging of a 2.3-kilometer stretch of the Anak Kali Krukut river in Tanah Abang. This project, spanning the Kebon Melati, Kebon Kacang, and Kampung Bali sub-districts, is described as the first of its kind in nearly 60 years and requires manual material transport due to dense residential areas. Waste management efforts are expanding through both community and large-scale infrastructure projects. In Jagakarsa, approximately 21,000 households have implemented source-based waste sorting using organic processing facilities like jumbo biopores and modern teba systems. Building on this, Governor Pramono Anung has announced plans to install integrated waste filters (Saringan Sampah Terpadu) at 11 river locations, including Kali Sunter, Cipinang, Jatikramat, Baru Timur, Baru Barat, Angke, Grogol, Krukut, Buaran, Kalimalang, and Angke. Cakung. These filters aim to intercept waste before it reaches downstream areas and the Bantargebang facility, while also assisting in flood control by preventing debris accumulation. Collected waste will be sorted into organic and inorganic types, with organic matter processed into compost or maggots. Urban management also includes the reorganization of utility cables by the cables. The Jakarta Public Works Department across 1,161 meters is working to support organize overhead cables across five regions as part of a phased five-year plan ahead of the city’s transformation into a global city. 500th anniversary in 2027. This strategy involves strengthening integrated utility network master plans, encouraging providers to relocate cables, and removing inactive lines, which are estimated to account for approximately 50 percent of overhead cables. Environmental and tourism-focused activities also continue in the Thousand Islands Regency.
