Japan industry growth forecasts

In July 2026 two market outlooks highlighted Japan’s projected expansion across several sectors through 2034. The first forecast projected the semiconductor‑equipment market to more than double from about $7 billion in 2025 to roughly $15 billion by 2034, driven by AI accelerators, high‑performance computing, advanced packaging, EV production and strong government support. At the same time, the animal‑feed market was expected to grow modestly to 29.2 million tonnes, reflecting policies for feed self‑sufficiency, AI‑enabled formulation and rising domestic meat, dairy and aquaculture consumption.

A second outlook later that month focused on digital and agricultural technologies. Japan’s supply‑chain‑management software market was projected to reach about $16.2 billion by 2034, buoyed by e‑commerce expansion, AI‑driven planning tools for semiconductors and electronics, and sustainability pressures. The smart‑agriculture market was forecast to climb to roughly $44.6 billion, driven by an aging farming workforce, labor shortages and climate‑change challenges, prompting adoption of AI‑enabled drones, autonomous tractors, IoT sensors and data‑analytics platforms. Together, the snapshots illustrate a broad trend of AI and digital transformation underpinning Japan’s anticipated industrial growth across both high‑tech and traditional sectors.
