Japan U17 women's teams at 2026 world tournaments

Overview

In July 2026 Japan’s under‑17 women’s national basketball team competed in the classification round of the FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup, targeting a final placement between fifth and eighth place while evaluating players for possible promotion to higher‑level squads.

A week later the under‑17 women’s volleyball team landed in Chile on 25 July as the first international delegation ahead of the 2026 FIVB U17 World Championship. The squad will acclimatise with friendly matches in Temuco and Copiapó before the tournament, which runs 6–16 August across venues in Ñuñoa, San Felipe and Los Andes. Japan is drawn in Group C with Brazil, Argentina, Poland, Croatia and Spain.

These events show Japan’s active participation in youth women’s world championships across basketball and volleyball during the same month.
