Educational institutions and authorities in Japan have released various details regarding entrance examinations for 2027. Kichijoji Yusui Junior and Senior High School, an institution transitioning to co-education, announced themes for its ‘Expression Creation Entrance Exam’. This assessment includes tracks for Art, Essay, Digital, and Dance, allowing students to use AI during the creative process as long as they can explain their decision-making during follow-up dialogues. Concurrently, prefectural boards in Toyama and Osaka published implementation guidelines. Toyama Prefecture reported a slight decrease in recommendation-based selection slots for full-time high schools and noted departmental restructuring at Tonami Technical High School. In Osaka Prefecture, details were released for public high school admissions, specifically regarding integrated courses at Nishinari and Misaki high schools, where selection will involve academic tests, school reports, and interviews. Further updates from Okayama and Yamagata prefectures have expanded these guidelines. In Okayama, the Prefectural Private School Association noted that 23 private high schools will maintain an enrollment capacity of 5,560 students, with demand remaining steady despite a declining birthrate. Kansai Boys' High School and Seishin Girls' High School are set to transition to co-educational models in 2027, with Seishin also restructuring its academic courses. In Yamagata, the Board of Education scheduled public admissions for early 2027, with general selection occurring on March 7 and 8. These examinations will cover five subjects—Japanese, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, and English—with some schools utilizing weighted scoring and web-based application systems.
