In mid-July 2026, the action thriller *Mutiny* was announced for a worldwide debut on 21 August 2026 in the United States, with earlier releases in France and India. Directed by Jean-François Richet, the film stars Jason Statham as Cole Reed, a ~~man~~ former policeman turned security chief who becomes a murder suspect and becomes entangled in an international conspiracy involving human trafficking aboard a cargo ship. Annabelle Wallis also appears in the ~~production.~~ production as Angie Ellis. On 18 August, two days before its scheduled theatrical release, the full 95-minute film was accidentally leaked on Amazon Prime Video in the United States. The error occurred when the movie appeared on a product detail page intended for trailers, allowing some users to stream the film for several hours. This leak caused significant concern for distributor Lionsgate and international buyers, as the premature availability fueled piracy and threatened potential multi-million dollar losses. One international buyer described the incident as a ‘multimillion-dollar problem for Amazon.’ As of 23 August, the impact of the leak intensified as high-definition copies spread across piracy websites. The film saw a disappointing US box office opening of approximately $7.5 million, and critical reception remained mixed, with a Rotten Tomatoes score between 43% and 49%. Critics characterized the premise as a ‘Die Hard on a boat,’ with some calling the film ‘aimless, dull, and uninspired.’ By early September, the film was deemed a box office failure, earning only $26 million globally against a $40 million budget. Due to the impact of the initial technical error, Lionsgate shortened the film's theatrical exclusivity, moving *Mutiny* to digital streaming platforms on 8 September 2026.
