In late July 2026, media reports highlighted speculation that 36‑year‑old Spanish forward Jenni Hermoso might return to Atlético Madrid. At the time she was under contract with Mexican side Tigres UANL until the end of 2026 and had been granted a special leave to commentate the 2023 Men's World Cup.
