Fifty children from Jerusalem, aged 11 to 14, are participating in the 17th annual ‘Manarat al-Salam’ (Lighthouse of Peace) summer camp in Morocco. Organized by the Al-Quds Bait al-Mal Agency under the patronage of King Mohammed VI, President of the Al-Quds Committee, the program fosters cultural exchange and solidarity between Palestinian and Moroccan youth. Following initial workshops and tours of Rabat and Casablanca, the group traveled to Mdiq, Tetouan, and Tangier. Activities included maritime excursions from the Tangier Marina, golf lessons at the Royal Golf Club in Fnideq, and tours of the historic medina in Tetouan. In Tangier, the children participated in Morocco’s Youth Day celebrations, performing Palestinian dabke dances and singing both national anthems. The program also includes a summer school in Skhirat. On Sunday, August 23, Princess Lalla Meryem received the children at the Royal Guest Palace in Rabat. During the visit, Mohammed Salem Cherkaoui, the director managing the Jerusalem Bait Mal Agency, presented a documentary book to the Princess detailing the agency’s activities. The current camp session runs from August 12 to 26 26, 2026, and includes five supervisors from Jerusalem. Since the program’s inception in 2008, it has supported a total of 850 children and 85 supervisors from various Jerusalem ~~neighborhoods.~~ neighborhoods, reflecting Morocco's ongoing support for the Palestinian people.
