Professional wrestler Joe Hendry has provided various insights into his career and aspirations within the industry. Regarding his competitive goals, Hendry expressed a desire to compete for a world championship in Scotland and identified CM Punk as a dream opponent. He also noted that if he were to face Matt Cardona, he would prefer the match to occur in the UFC rather than a WWE ring, describing Cardona as the ‘stiffest wrestler’ he has worked with. Following his move to the WWE main roster, Hendry stated that winning a WWE world title is his ultimate professional goal. To reach this, he aims to get ‘1% better every week’ by refining his physical conditioning and in-ring moves. He also shared details regarding his unconventional path to professional wrestling, which included a background in amateur wrestling and grappling. His amateur career included winning the British Championship in freestyle wrestling and representing Team Scotland at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia. Reflecting on his professional development, Hendry discussed overcoming early insecurities regarding his physique. He also shared advice received from John Cena concerning his entrance at the Royal Rumble and highlighted the camaraderie among performers, recounting an instance where fellow wrestler Penta assisted him with attire during a tour in South America. Since transitioning from TNA Wrestling to WWE, where he captured the NXT Championship and joined the Monday Night Raw roster, Hendry has expressed ambition to become a top star and a major asset for the company. He cited his ability to ‘move the needle’ by noting he held the most-viewed clip in professional wrestling in 2024, achieved significant social media engagement during his WrestleMania match against Randy Orton, and saw his WrestleMania merchandise become a bestseller.
