Ajax has officially completed the permanent transfer of 19-year-old left-back Jofre Torrents from FC Barcelona. The Spanish defender, a La Masia product who joined the academy in 2017 and made his first-team debut against Mallorca in August 2025, moves to the Eredivisie to secure regular playing time. The deal is valued at up to €6 million, including an initial fee and performance-based variables. As part of the agreement, Barcelona retains a 50% share of any future sale and a buy-back option. While previous estimates placed the buy-back between €15 million and €20 million, ~~some~~ reports ~~suggest~~ indicate a potential repurchase clause of €14 million could be activated starting in 2028. Torrents has signed a contract with Ajax running until June 30, 2030. He joins a squad managed by Míchel Sánchez and will reunite with fellow former Barcelona player Marc-André ter Stegen.
