Speculation regarding the relationship status of actor John Boyega and model Tae Heckard emerged following social media interactions and sightings of wedding rings. Heckard shared posts suggesting she was ‘off the market’, while Boyega engaged in banter on her posts, referring to her as his ‘lover’. Boyega later confirmed that he has been married for nearly two years and is expecting his first child. These personal revelations were shared during press for his BBC documentary, ‘Damilola: The Untold Story’, a project exploring the childhood murder of his friend Damilola Taylor in South London. Boyega noted that discussing the tragedy after so much time was an emotional process. In a subsequent interview with The Guardian, Boyega clarified that the ring on his finger is a wedding band and revealed he is expecting a baby boy. He noted that he and his wife opted for a small, private ceremony and expressed that his family life has left him feeling ‘completely, completely fulfilled’. He also mentioned that he is a stepfather to a young boy. While Boyega did not officially name his wife during the interview, Heckard has updated her social media presence to reflect a change in her name. Boyega has since confirmed via Instagram that his wife is actress Tae Heckard, who has updated her social media profile to Tae Boyega. He also confirmed the recent arrival of his baby boy. Regarding his private ceremony, Boyega joked that if they were to hold a larger wedding celebration in the future, they would ‘have to shut Nigeria down’ for the event.
