MotoGP championship leader Jorge Martín has decided to postpone surgery for arm pump, a compartment syndrome in his right forearm, following the Austrian Grand Prix. After experiencing performance issues during the San Marino Grand Prix in Misano, Martín underwent medical evaluations in Barcelona to assess his condition. At the Red Bull Ring, Martín secured pole position and won the Sprint Race, marking his 20th career Sprint victory. In the main Grand Prix, Pedro Acosta secured KTM’s first premier class victory, finishing 1.017 seconds ahead of Martín. Martín noted that worn rear tires prevented him from challenging Acosta for the win. Martín’s second-place finish extended his championship lead to 12 points over Marc ~~Márquez.~~ Márquez, who finished fifth. Martín, riding for Aprilia, reported that his current therapy is working effectively and that he feels significantly better than he did during the Misano race. Regarding his medical status, he stated, “I will not go into surgery. I will try to continue like this,” citing the high risks associated with surgical procedures. While he is not ruling out future surgery, he intends to focus on rest and recovery ahead of the upcoming Asian-Oceanian tour, which includes races in Japan, Indonesia, Australia, and Malaysia.
