Josue De Paula promotion and MLB debut with Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers have promoted top outfield prospect Josue De Paula directly from the Double-A Tulsa Drillers to the Major Leagues. The 21-year-old is expected to make his debut during a series against the Miami Marlins.

This promotion follows injury concerns within the Dodgers roster, specifically regarding star player Shohei Ohtani, who is expected to be placed on the injured list due to right biceps and left knee issues. De Paula, who recorded 27 home runs and 104 RBIs this season, is noted for his blend of power, contact, and aggressive baserunning.

During the series finale against the Miami Marlins at loanDepot Park, De Paula recorded his first Major League hit with a three-run, 413-foot home run in the fourth inning off pitcher Eury Pérez. Manager Dave Roberts utilized De Paula in left field for his first Major League start to manage player workloads. Despite De Paula’s home run and a double, as well as an RBI double from Mookie Betts, the Dodgers suffered a 6-4 walk-off loss after the Marlins tied the game in the ninth inning and secured the win via a two-run home run by Agustín Ramírez.
